She Moves Through The House

She Moves Through The House is a feminist meditation video artwork, focusing on daily menial tasks within the home. This piece stars the house and myself, and the rituals of cleaning, cooking & dwelling in a domestic space. Reflected in this piece are the mundane tasks previously culturally relegated to being “women’s work”. But within, there is a transformation of this work into rituals of quietness and care. The body is the home, and the work completed are cyclical acts of consideration, care and change.

This piece is a still life of home! I hope you enjoy my exploration of the body, and house known as Peach House!

This piece was exhibited in the Cacophony exhibition, a combination of the final pieces of all of the photographic studio’s from my uni.

When exhibiting the piece I decided to utilise the same dollhouse used within the video. The set up was completed by gutting the inside of the house, and using a small projector to display the image inside.

The inside of the house is lined with Care Bear wallpaper, and therefore with the layering of the projection over it, there is texture and layering throughout.
